Writing Begins on "The Hobbit"
August 19, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
Wahoo! Both TheOneRing.net and Entertainment Weekly are reporting that writing has begun for The Hobbit, scheduled for a December 2011 release (excellent Christmas present for all of us) AND its sequel, coming December 2012.
The Lord of the Rings films are a favorite around our household, and get played in entirety at least once or twice a year.
I’m hoping The Hobbit is just as good, because the LOTR writing team of Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens are working with director Guillermo del Toro to write the screenplays for the two new movies. Quite the talented team there.
Check out the official move blog here. Shooting is expected to start in the fall of 2009 in New Zealand.
(One more Woot! from me here!)

Yeah, I hope this one is good. I’m a little worried, though, since the novel has a lot of inconsistencies with the later books. They’re very different stories. I’m not sure what they’ll choose to do with it.
