Will Smith Explains Hitler Comment

I consider Will Smith to be one of the smartest, most respectable actors in Hollywood today and I was disgusted when some of his recent comments were blown way out of proportion. A journalist recently used a Smith quote in an effort to demonstrate that the actor believes that we are all basically good. Here’s what Smith said:
“Even Hitler didn’t wake up going, ‘Let me do the most evil thing I can do today.’ I think he woke up in the morning and using a twisted, backwards logic, he set out to do what he thought was ‘good.’”
Naturally, the Anti-Defamation League fired back, which only infuriated the "I Am Legend" star. “It is an awful and disgusting lie,” Smith said in a statement. “It speaks to the dangerous power of an ignorant person with a pen. I am incensed and infuriated to have to respond to such ludicrous misinterpretation.”
Yeah, I’m pretty appalled for you, Will. Besides, I’m not exactly sure how his words could be misinterpreted. It makes sense to me…

I agree, Jeanne. It’s disgusting how people just blow things way out of proportion. I’m glad that he was so vocal about being angry, though. If that were me I’d be pretty mad.
Just goes to show you that there are many in media today who would rather take the truth and craft it into a lie to sell it, than just give it as truth. As dangerous as it was for Will to be using Hitler as an example in his interview, it shouldn’t have ended up with “Will Smith thinks Hitler was Good.” articles floating around, which is a down right lie.
But then, there are some people out there that would rather create controversy than understanding in the world, so long as it gets them some points. Anything to boost the ratings, am I right?
The media in general really is in sad shape today, you don’t even know what to trust any more.
