Watch Free Movies Online! – Spotlight: "Yellow Sticky Notes"

March 1, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

movie-stuff From time to time, I’ll highlight here on Film Gecko some of the cool places to watch free movies online – and shine the spotlight on some of those cool movies.

One of my favorite places is the YouTube Screening Room, where you’ll find all sorts of films, from “The 13th Amendment,” about a 90-year-old woman who casts her first-ever vote for an African-American President, to “Slacker – The Film,” Richard Linklater’s indie classic about a group of social outcasts living out their lives in Austin, Texas.

One of my current favorites is “Yellow Sticky Notes” by director Jeff Chiba Stearns. After realizing that his life was consumed by yellow sticky notes filled with endless “to do” lists (right there with ya, buddy), Stearns decided to make a film about it. So he animated 2,300 of those same sticky notes, blending hand-drawn images with an original score by Genevieve Vincent. The film made the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival.

Look for “Yellow Sticky Notes” on the YouTube Screening Room, and check out the other great films there, too. The site adds new movies every two weeks!
