Volver Review and Trailer

I had to drag my husband with me to see Penelope Cruz’s movie "Volver" because he assumed it would be just another chick flick, but boy was he wrong! He actually thanked me after the movie was over because he enjoyed it so much. This oddly funny and quirky movie is actually a heartwarming story about a troubled family coming together. It has a "supernatural" theme surrounding the ghost of Penelope Cruz’s character’s dead mother coming back to life, but it isn’t hokey like you’d expect.

It definitely has the feel of a sexed up Spanish film with quite a lot of nudity and sexual scenes that I could have lived without. Especially the nude scenes with Yohana Cobo who plays Penelope Cruz’s young teenage daughter. When I got home from the theatre I had to check how old the actress was because I was so grossed out. Luckily I found that Yohana is of a legal age.

This aside, a fantastic movie that has a surprising ending. Check out this trailer:
