Universal Picks Up "Chasing Harry Winston"

September 12, 2008 by Jane Boursaw

chasingharrywinston When I heard about this movie, I was half-way expecting a documentary where someone chases after the illusive jeweler Harry Winston, a la Michael Moore’s Roger and Me, where he chases after the illusive CEO of GM, Roger Smith.

No, it’s not that, but it sounds just as good. It’s an adaptation of a book by one of my favorite authors in recent years, Lauren Weisberger, who also penned The Devil Wears Prada and Everyone Worth Knowing.

Chasing Harry Winston revolves around three women, each of whom vow to change their lives for the better during the next year. Universal Pictures has picked up the rights to the novel, and Andy Tennant will direct the movie for producer Mandalay Pictures.

Penning the adaptation will be Gina Wendkos, who wrote the two “Princess Diaries” films for Disney. Sounds like a good combo.
