Premiere Of Dreamworks Pictures' "Tropic Thunder" - Arrivals

Tom Cruise sure is getting around these days, isn’t he? You can hardly go to a movie or read the entertainment news without seeing him. That’s him with Katie Holmes at the “Tropic Thunder” premiere this week.

Now he’s in talks to play the title character in Spyglass Entertainment’s remake of the French spy thriller The Tourist. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cruise has been considering the project for weeks, and it’ll likely be the next project he tackles.

Bharat Nalluri will direct the adaptation of Julian Fellowes’ screenplay, which follows an American tourist used as a pawn in a spy game by a female Interpol agent. Hmmm…wonder who they’ll get to play her. Not Katie Holmes! I don’t want them to break up just yet.

You can see Cruise in Tropic Thunder and the upcoming Nazi-themed biopic Valkyrie. He was recently replaced by Angelina Jolie in the drama Edwin A. Salt, and might star in the Working Title comedy “Food Fight.”

By the way, The Tourist is a different is project from the recently announced Warner Bros. film based on a novel of the same name, set to be produced and potentially star George Clooney. That’s confusing, isn’t it?
