Tom Cruise Rocks "Thunder," Attached to "Food Fight"
August 11, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
Tom Cruise is one of those actors who, even though he’s usually at the center of a controversy, I still really like as an actor.
Look at his early films like Risky Business, All the Right Moves, and Top Gun, and you can still see that boyish star quality in his movies today. He’s never really lost that, despite all of the Scientology and personal issues. At premieres and public events, you always see him signing autographs and taking pics with the fans. You’ve gotta respect that in a big star.
More after the jump…
And he morphs easily into various roles, or so it seems. In Tropic Thunder, he plays an overweight, over-the-top studio exec, a role that advance buzz is calling a scene-stealing performance.
Now he’s also loosely attached to “Food Fight,” a feel-good comedy about a snooty New York chef who’s forced to cook meals at a school cafeteria, with Cruise playing the role of the chef.
I wonder if he’s making an effort to return to his movie-making roots, to bring himself back to the fan base he had years ago.
