Tobey Maguire Develops "Afterburn"

Is Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire becoming the comic book/sci-fi go-to guy?
Now he’s chasing another comic book flick, the sci-fi adventure Afterburn, a new series from Canadian publisher Red 5 Comics. Maguire is planning a big-screen adaptation, along with Neal Moritz, producer of The Fast and The Furious. No writer is attached yet.
Set in a post-apocalyptic Earth, the series follows treasure hunters who seek items like the Mona Lisa, the Rosetta Stone and England’s Crown Jewels while battling rival hunters, mutants and pirates.
More after the jump…
Maguire’s company, Maguire Entertainment, is also producing Robotech, set for a 2010 release. Based on a TV series, the sci-fi epic centers on a race of human-created giant robots who protect the Earth from three waves of alien invasions.
Maguire and comic book/sci-fi movies? Ok by me! What say you?
