The Golden Tomatoes

January 21, 2008 by Jane Boursaw

ratatoille1 A little rat and a couple of street musicians took top honors in the ninth annual Golden Tomato Awards.

The awards pay tribute to the best-reviewed films of the previous year as determined by the Web site RottenTomatoes.com, which gathers reviews from print, online and broadcast film critics to measure the percentage of favorable critiques.

Ratatouille, the animated film about a rat with astonishing culinary skills, earned a 96 percent ranking on the site’s Tomatometer. The unassuming romance Once scored 98 percent, winning for best limited release film and best musical. If you haven’t seen these movies yet, I highly recommend them!

Other Golden Tomatoes:

Atonement – romance

The Bourne Ultimatum – action/adventure

Juno – comedy

No Country For Old Men – thriller

Away From Her – drama

Sicko – documentary

Grindhouse – horror

Enchanted - family film

The Lives of Others – foreign film

The Moldy Tomato, awarded to the worst-reviewed film of the year, was lobbed at Because I Said So. You know, the movie Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore are wishing they’d never made.
