"The Day the Earth Stood Still" – New Trailer
July 5, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
A new trailer for The Day the Earth Stood Still was released by 20th Century Fox this week. The remake of the 1951 classic hits theaters December 12, 2008, and stars Keanu Reeves as Klaatu, an alien whose arrival on our planet triggers a global upheaval.
As governments and scientists race to unravel the mystery of his appearance, a woman (Jennifer Connelly) and her young stepson get caught up in his mission – and come to understand the ramifications of his being a self-described “friend to the Earth.”
It looks pretty good, even though Keanu Reeves always seems like he’s playing the same role over and over.

The reason Keanu looks to be playing the same role is because he isn’t playing any role. He’s not even acting. He’s just reading his lines.
Looks pretty terrible, IMHO. But I suppose you can’t judge a book by its cover.
