"The Dark Knight" Crosses $500 million

September 1, 2008 by Jane Boursaw

darkknightposter2 No surprise here. The Dark Knight crossed the $500 million mark at the U.S. box office, and it’s only the second film in Hollywood history to do it.

The record-breaking film, starring Christian Bale and Heath Ledger, has taken just six weeks to reach the half-million figure - half the time it took Titanic, which remains the only film to have made more at the U.S. domestic box office.

After Sunday’s estimates, The Dark Knight has now made a total of $502.4 million. Again…I’m not surprised. It’s a great film.
