"The Counterfeiters" Trailer

“The Counterfeiters” is nominated for “Best Foreign Language Film” at the upcoming Academy Awards.  I don’t even know if I can describe the depth involved with the storyline of this movie.  It is based on a true story about Salomon Sorowitsch (Karl Markovics), a prisoner of the Third Reich who was also the best counterfeiter in the world.  When his special “talent” is discovered, he (along with a group of professionals) is given luxury barracks in exchange for his assistance in making counterfeit money for the Nazis, thus, funding their war efforts.  When fellow detainee, Adolf Burger (August Diehl), raises his concerns, Salomon is faced with a moral dilemma.  What will he do?

The movie is actually based on the book by Adolf Burger.  It will start playing in limited release in theaters on February 22, 2008.
