Michael Bay on Transformers 3

Wondering whether there’s going to be a “Transformers 3”? Michael Bay’s official Web site offered a few clues as to the status of that project.
According to the site, Bay will be meeting with Steven Spielberg and Ehren Kruger later this week to discuss ideas for “Transformers 3.” We should know by the end of the week whether it’s in a go mode. If so, it would likely hit theaters in the summer of 2011 or 2012.
Bay has a long list of possible projects in the works, including “Pain & Gain” and “Bad Boys 3.” I wouldn’t mind another …read more

A remake of Harvey? I vote for Tom Hanks or Steve Carell

It’s hard to imagine "Harvey" with anyone but Jimmy Stewart as Elwood P. Dowd, the guy who befriended a 6 1/2-foot-tall invisible rabbit in the 1950 film version of Mary Chase’s play — which won a Pulitzer Prize, by the way.
But if anyone can do a remake, it would be Steven Spielberg, who plans to direct an upcoming film, a co-production of 20th Century Fox and DreamWorks. It’s the first film under DreamWorks’ new incarnation; the company will finance 50% through its new partner Reliance and distribute through Disney.
It’s funny how all these film companies are hooked …read more

The story deals with all sorts of otherworldly creatures, and Taye Diggs is in talks to play the main villain, a vampire. You can catch Diggs currently in ABC’s "Private Practice."

DreamWorks and Disney Hook Up

It’s official. Steven Spielberg and his partners at DreamWorks Studios have agreed to a distribution deal with Disney: Walt Disney Studios will market six DreamWorks live-action movies a year.
It makes you wonder what goes on behind the scenes, because DreamWorks has sort of been all over the place since it was formed by Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg (former CEO at Disney), and David Geffen in 1994.
Several years later, DreamWorks hooked up with Paramount Pictures and released several smash-hit films, including 2007’s Transformers. But there must have been some feuding going on, because they split up, and  DreamWorks hooked …read more

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in for "Tintin"?

Simon Pegg revealed to the The Sunday Times back in September that Steven Spielberg had asked he and Nick Frost to play the Thompson Twins in "Tintin."
At the time, it sounded more like a rumor than anything, but Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that it’s a done deal: "According to a reliable source not at all involved in the production, those rumblings we heard last fall about Simon Pegg and Nick Frost being cast as the Thomson and Thompson were right on the money. They’re in."
Ok, these guys don’t exactly look like twins (they’re pictured, in "Shaun of …read more
