The combination of Robert Downey, Jr., Jude Law, and Rachel McAdams in the ultimate buddy movie set in Old World Europe is very enticing. It’s got everything, including plenty of action, romance and swashbuckling. Not to mention RDJ without a shirt. That’s what I call a movie.

The release of “Sherlock Holmes” is still three months away (it hits theaters Dec. 25, 2009 – I know what our traditional family Christmas movie will be this year!), but a sequel is already in the works.
I guess they’re expecting gigantic box office numbers, and I hope they’re right. Footage of the film played well at Comic-Con, so maybe they’re banking on that.

When I think of “Sherlock Holmes,” the image of martial arts doesn’t automatically spring to mind. But director Guy Ritchie says he wanted a contemporary feel to the film starring Robert Downey, Jr. as the detective and Jude Law as his sidekick Watson. And, apparently, Holmes was a kick-ass fighter!
Ritchie talks about adding martial arts to the film (“we have the technology now”), while still keeping it authentic.

I posted a trailer the other day for "Sherlock Holmes," due in theaters on Dec. 25, 2009 (watch the trailer here). I’m pretty psyched about this movie, not only because of Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law, but also because it looks like a stylish film with a good blend of action, drama, comedy, crime and mystery. Hope I’m right!

Can’t wait to see Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law in "Sherlock Holmes," in theaters Dec. 25, 2009 (that’s a new date – it was originally Nov. 20).

Downey, Jr. plays the legendary detective, while Law stars as his trusted colleague, Watson, a doctor and war veteran. Rachel McAdams stars as Irene Adler, a woman who has a tempestuous relationship with Holmes. Mark Strong stars as their mysterious new adversary, Blackwood, and Kelly Reilly will play Watson’s love interest, Mary.
But mostly, It’s all about RDJ for me. Thanks to MTV for the trailer below. Looks awesome!

1. Watchmen (March 6). “Who watches the Watchmen?” That’s the question in this graphic-novel-turned-movie directed by Zach Snyder. Here’s the Warner Bros. 2009 Film Preview. And woohoo that "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" will finally hit theaters on July 17, 2009. "The Dark Knight" hits theaters — AGAIN! Zac Efron gets a chance to be young again in "17 Again" (uh, haven’t we seen that plotline in about 20 movies?), John Connor comes back in "Terminator: Salvation," Robert Downey, Jr. plays Sherlock Holmes, and Clint Eastwood is nowhere near retiring. “New Moon” has a release date! The sequel to “Twilight” is heading to theaters Nov. 20, 2009.
On that same day, it’ll be up against Warner Bros.’ “Sherlock Holmes,” starring Robert Downey, Jr., Sony’s “Planet 51,” and MGM’s untitled “Three Stooges” project. That doesn’t seem so daunting, not that it would matter.
A story in Variety says the “New Moon” folks are looking to replicate their box office success by premiering the next movie on a similar date as “Twilight.” Really, though, I don’t think it matters when “New Moon” premieres. If the movie aired only one time …read more
