Bruno on DVD: Watch the deleted scene with LaToya Jackson

Right before “Bruno” was released in theaters, the scene with LaToya Jackson was deleted out of respect for the death of Michael Jackson.
But, of course, it’s included in the special features on the DVD and Blu-ray, hitting shelves Nov. 17, 2009 from Universal Home Entertainment.
The movie stars Sacha Baron Cohen as an Austrian TV host searching for fame and fortune in America. During the process, he pranks any and everyone who crosses his path.
Really, though, you’ve gotta believe that celebrities can see him coming a mile away. It’s not like Cohen hasn’t been on TV and …read more

Bonus clip from Bruno: Pete Rose hangs with Bruno

I just received a review copy of “Bruno,” and since I didn’t see it in theaters, will post a review soon. It hits DVD and Blu-ray on Nov. 17, 2009.
Until then, here’s a clip from the bonus material, a never-before-seen interview where baseball legend Pete Rose sits with Austrian TV host Bruno, played by Sacha Baron Cohen. It’s an alternate scene not included in the film.
Whether you like Cohen’s characters or not, it always floors me how deeply embedded he is in them. Really, it’s hard to believe he’s anything other than the character you’re seeing on screen. …read more

David Letterman: Top 10 Reasons to go see Bruno

David Letterman gets the coolest guests, doesn’t he? Well, I guess it depends on who you ask as to whether Bruno, a.k.a. Sacha Baron Cohen, is cool. He was on the other night giving his Top 10 Reasons to go see “Bruno,” in theaters right now. Cohen must be pretty worn out with all the appearances he’s been making around the globe. Oh, and if you want to see the real Sacha Baron Cohen as himself, check out this video.

Think it’s easy finding a terrorist? Not so, says Sacha Baron Cohen

Think it’s easy finding a terrorist? Not so, says Sacha Baron Cohen

We really don’t get to see the real Sacha Baron Cohen all that much, because he’s usually in character at most of his public appearances. Like this U.K. premiere for his new movie, "Bruno" (in theaters now), where he showed up as the Austrian gay fashion reporter he plays in the movie.
But last night he appeared as a guest on "The Late Show with David Letterman" as HIMSELF. And he’s really very funny. Here, he talks about how difficult it was to find a real terrorist to interview in the movie.

Should filmmakers delete scenes about Michael Jackson? Scene cut from Bruno

Should filmmakers delete scenes about Michael Jackson? Scene cut from Bruno

The sudden death of Michael Jackson has left filmmakers scrambling to tweak or delete any scenes involving the pop star. Such was the case with "Bruno," where a Jackson-related sketch ended up getting cut just hours before the Los Angeles premiere.
After much discussion, Universal Pictures removed a scene from the movie where Bruno, the flamboyant Austrian journalist played by Sacha Baron Cohen, interviews an unsuspecting Latoya Jackson about several topics, including her brother.
The sketch included jokes about Jackson’s high-pitched voice and his trademark white glove.
I mean, basically, the movie is really over-the-top anyway, so had Jackson …read more

Isla Fisher, Sacha Baron Cohen at Bruno UK Premiere

Isla Fisher, Sacha Baron Cohen at Bruno UK Premiere

What must it be like being the girlfriend of Sacha Baron Cohen? I wonder if Isla Fisher ever gets tired of his multiple personalities. Or who knows, maybe he’s actually really normal in real life. Word has it they’re both too busy to get married, though they have a baby daughter together, Olive.
But not too busy to promote their respective movies. The two attended the UK premiere of “Bruno,” the freaky comedy starring Cohen as a flamboyant Austrian fashionista who comes to America seeking fame and fortune. Or something.
Here are a few images from the premiere, held at the Empire …read more

Sacha Baron Cohen in Bruno – International Trailer

Sacha Baron Cohen is one of those actor-comedians you either get or you don’t. Well, maybe that’s too cut and dried for him, because there were some parts of "Borat" that I thought were hysterically funny (two naked guys fighting in a hotel hallway, anyone?), but there were also parts of that movie that didn’t really strike me as funny. And maybe they’re not supposed to.
Anyway, he’s back in "Bruno," playing a flamboyant Austrian fashionista who comes to America and shakes things up. Frequent collaborator Larry Charles is directing. It’s rated R and opens in U.S. theaters July 10, …read more

4 Images from Bruno – SBC is completely freaky

Are you a Sacha Baron Cohen fan? Sometimes I think he’s hysterically funny, and sometimes just freaky and weird. He wrote, produced and stars in “Bruno,” with frequent collaborator Larry Charles directing (he directed “Borat,” among others).
The story follows Cohen’s character of Bruno, a flamboyant Austrian fashionista who comes to America seeking … something, I’m not sure what! It’s rated R and opens in U.S. theaters July 10, 2009.
What do you think of these images? Freaky? Make you want to go see the movie?

"Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" – Review

Movie: Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa * Official Site
In Theaters: Nov. 7, 2008

Runtime: 89 minutes
Directed by: Eric Darnell

MPAA Rating: PG for some mild crude humor
Gecko Rating:

“Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa” is Too.Much.Fun! I love that they didn’t make us wait for the “Move it, Move It” song, and jumped right into it at the beginning. My kids and I loved everything about it from beginning to end. We all agreed that it’s even better than the first movie. And a third movie is on the way for 2011, so we’ve got that to look forward to.
All the originals are …read more
