Here are a few clips from “The People’s Choice Awards” last night. You can read my full recap over at AOL Television, which includes a list of all the winners.
For the most part, it seemed very low-key, with nothing too shocking or awkward happening (except for some of the lame jokes). Oh, and Mariah Carey nearly tripped on her way up to the stage, but that’s nothing new.

The stars came out in full force – and such a diverse group they were – for the premiere of “Precious“ at the 2009 New York Film Festival on Oct. 3, 2009. I posted the trailer last spring, and can’t wait to see the film.
It tells the story of an overweight, illiterate teen (Gabourey Sidibe) in Harlem who’s pregnant with her second child. First Trailer for Mariah Carey’s Precious

We’re used to seeing Mariah Carey all glammed up, like she was on the red carpet premiere of “Precious” at Cannes last week. But in the movie itself, she is anything but glam. No makeup, dowdy hair, the whole works.
“Precious” tells the story of an overweight teen (Gabourey Sidibe) in Harlem who’s pregnant with her second child. But when she’s invited to enroll in an alternative school, it just might turn things around for her.

Abbie Cornish, Mariah Carey and others at the Cannes Film Festival 2009

The Cannes Film Festival – a.k.a. Festival de Cannes – is in full swing right now, from May 13 – 24, 2009. I’ve chosen a few images from the festival, including lovely Abbie Cornish, right, attending the "Bright Star" screening.
The main news to come out of the festival is that while there are many top-tier projects available to U.S. distributors, no one is buying. A sign of the bleak economy?
