I’m a big fan of both Drew Barrymore and Ellen Page, so I’ve been looking forward to seeing “Whip It.” It delivers in all the right areas – warmth, action, empowerment, and family – despite a few cliché storylines you can see coming a mile away.

Ellen Page talks Whip It

Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut “Whip It” hit theaters this weekend (my 12-year-old daughter and I loved it). It’s a fun look at the world of the roller derby and the people who participate. Here, star Ellen Page talks with ReelzChannel about making the movie.

What would Ellen Page’s roller derby name be?

One of the movies I’m looking forward to this weekend is “Whip It,” the roller derby flick directed by Drew Barrymore and starring Ellen Page as a girl who finds her “tribe” at a roller derby rink.
Check out the trailer here, and a behind-the-scenes clip here. Here’s more from MTV: Ellen Page talking about what her roller derby name would be.

Behind the Scenes with Whip It’s Drew Barrymore

Roller derbies are all the rage right now, and Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut, “Whip It,” couldn’t come at a better time. The world needs some gritty new old sport to glom onto.
Ellen Page stars as Bliss Cavendar, a rebellious Texas teen who trades in her small town beauty pageant crown for the wild and rowdy world of roller derby.
Kristen Wiig ("Saturday Night Live") and Juliette Lewis ("Old School") play roller-derby stars. Eve, Jimmy Fallon, and Daniel Stern are also featured in the movie, as is Marcia Gay Harden, who plays Bliss’ straight-laced mom.

Trailer for Drew Barrymore’s Whip It is major fun

Who knew Detroit would be such a hot filming property lately? “Whip It” takes place here (I say “here,” because Michigan is my home state), not to mention Clint Eastwood’s recent “Gran Torino,” and HBO’s “Hung.” Film tax incentives, anyone?
“Whip It” is the colorful directorial debut of Drew Barrymore, and stars Ellen Page as Bliss Cavendar, a rebellious Texas teen who trades in her small town beauty pageant crown for the wild and rowdy world of roller derby!
That doesn’t sit well with her straight-laced mom Marcia Gay Harden.  Kristen Wiig ("Saturday Night Live") and Juliette Lewis ("Old School") …read more

Ellen Page on the set of Inception in Paris

Actress Ellen Page is hard at work on her new film “Inception,” in which she stars opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. Check out the pic of her below, filming in Paris recently. Page is a hot property right now; you can catch her next in Drew Barrymore’s roller derby flick, “Whip It,” in theaters Oct. 2, 2009.
Not many details are known about “Inception,” but it’s being called “a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind." I’ve also heard that it’s about a businessman who becomes involved in a blackmailing scheme. Perfect DiCaprio vehicle, because he does these types …read more

Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard in talks for Inception

It’s a trio of Indie goodness as Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard and Cillian Murphy are in talks to join Christopher Nolan’s ”Inception.” If all goes well, they’ll be joining Leonardo DiCaprio, already onboard.
A cloak of secrecy surrounds the film, but it’s described as “a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.” Well, that really spells it out.
Whatever the plot, these three will be a great addition. Loved Ellen Page in “Hard Candy” and “Juno,” and there’s a reason why Marion Cotillard won a Best Actress Oscar award for La Vie en rose. Cillian Murphy is …read more
