Catherine Hardwicke: No on Directing "New Moon"

The Web is buzzing about the news that Catherine Hardwicke will NOT be directing “New Moon,” the next installment of the “Twilight” franchise.
Though I’ve heard rumors about tension on the “Twilight” set (and who really knows for sure?), according to a joint statement from Summit Entertainment and Hardwicke, the targeted release date of late 2009 or early 2010 doesn’t mesh with her schedule.

"He-Man" Movie Gets a Director

Not sure how I feel about this, but LatinoReview.com is reporting that the live-action “He-Man” movie, titled “Grayskull: The Masters of the Universe,” ISN’T dead in the water and, in fact, landed a director – John Stevenson.
Stevenson recently directed “Kung Fu Panda,” which went over well as a family movie. I dunno … is “He-Man” pegged as a family movie? And even if it isn’t, I guess we don’t have to pigeonhole Stevenson into just one genre, right?
Any thoughts on this?

Joe Johnston in to Helm "The First Avenger: Captain America"

Is this a good thing? Joe Johnston is on board to direct Marvel’s “The First Avenger: Captain America.”
He directed “The Wolf Man,” currently in post-production, as well as “Hidalgo” in 2004, “Jumanji” in 1995, “The Rocketeer” in 1991, and several other films.
Other than that, he worked in special effects, including designing the vehicles for “Star Wars” and storyboarding the convoy action sequence for “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
