Mike Judge: “Super hot girls live by a different set of rules”
August 27, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
One of the movies I’m most looking forward to is “Extract,” a new one by Mike Judge. Since “Office Space” is one of my favorite movies of all time, anything by Mike Judge gets a second look from me.
In theaters Sept. 4, 2009, it’s another story that takes place in the comedy-fertile ground of the American workplace. This time, it’s a flavor extract company that employs – you guessed it – a bunch of misfit losers and loners.
MTV.com caught up with Judge, who talks about the movie, including the fact that “super hot girls live by a different set of …read more
Check out the (comically misfit) characters in Mike Judge’s Extract
August 12, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
I just posted the trailer for Mike Judge’s Extract, and here’s a look at the characters. I’m probably most excited about this movie as any coming out this fall. The character descriptions are straight from the official Extract press site…
Joel (Jason Bateman) Jason Bateman plays Joel, the big boss at Reynolds Extract. If Joel hasn’t reached his front door by 8 o’clock, he’ll find his wife, Suzie (Kristen Wiig) cinching up her sweatpants – and about as interested in him as he is in her mastery of supermarket coupon design.
Sexually frustrated, Joel confides in …read more

The movie "Office Space" is one of my all-time favorites (with some of the best quotes ever!), and now my kids are old enough to watch it without me getting too cranky over the swearing, so that’s fun, too.
When I heard Mike Judge was coming out with a new movie called "Extract" … well, I’m all over that baby. In theaters Sept. 4, 2009, it’s another story that takes place in the comedy-fertile ground of the American workplace. June 4, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
He’s Just Not That Into You (PG-13). An all-star cast including Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, Drew Barrymore, and Jennifer Connelly populate this romantic drama of love and angst. And yes, it’s more drama than comedy, despite the trailers. [Official Site]
Revolutionary Road (R). Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio team up again (remember “Titanic”?!) in this tale of repressed suburbia in the 1950s. Film Gecko Review [Official Site]
Defiance (R). Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber, and Jamie Bell are three Jewish brothers who escape into the woods to escape the Nazis, and end up helping others in the process. Based on a true story. …read more
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, taking a break from The Company Men
April 22, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
My friend, Betsy Hijazi, has the best luck at scoring great photos of celebrities and movie sets. Last year she snagged awesome photos of Mel Gibson on the set of "Edge of Darkness."
She just sent me another great set of photos, this time of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner and their kids in Boston. Ben was taking a break from filming "The Company Men," in which he stars with Tommy Lee Jones and Kevin Costner. Directed by John Wells, the film centers on three men trying to survive corporate downsizing at a major company. It’s scheduled for a 2010 …read more

So when he gets the chance to go back and do it again, he goes for it – and is suddenly 17 again in the form of Zac Efron. Sweet movie about what matters most in life. "State of Play" arrives in theaters April 17, 2009.
Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck in State of Play – Preview & Trailer
March 11, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Russell Crowe is one of those actors I can watch in just about anything. In fact, I was trying to think of a performance of his I haven’t liked, and I can’t think of any. He never rests on his laurels. He always brings it.
His character of Ben Wade in "3:10 to Yuma" was one of the best of 2007, and 2005’s "Cinderella Man" made me go out and buy the book – something I rarely do after seeing a movie.
So I’m looking forward to "State of Play," in which Crowe stars as D.C. reporter Cal McAffrey, …read more
