Ian McKellen spills on The Hobbit casting, filming, start dates
October 13, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
If it seems like “The Hobbit” is moving at a snail’s pace, well, it is. But at least it’s moving, and Ian McKellen, who’ll be returning as the wise wizard Gandalf, had a few things to say about it. In a recent interview with Empire Online, he revealed a few tidbits about the long-awaited film (two films, actually):
“The scripts for the two films will be delivered very soon,” he revealed. “Then they’ll be budgeted, and then they’ll be cast. And they’ll be going when they’ve always said they would be, which is next spring – March or April.”

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in for "Tintin"?
January 5, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Simon Pegg revealed to the The Sunday Times back in September that Steven Spielberg had asked he and Nick Frost to play the Thompson Twins in "Tintin."
At the time, it sounded more like a rumor than anything, but Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that it’s a done deal: "According to a reliable source not at all involved in the production, those rumblings we heard last fall about Simon Pegg and Nick Frost being cast as the Thomson and Thompson were right on the money. “Inkheart” centers on Meggie (Eliza Bennett), a young girl whose father (Brendan Fraser) has a secret ability to bring characters from books to life when he reads them aloud.
But it all goes oh-so-wrong when a power-hungry villain from a rare children’s fable kidnaps Meggie’s father, and Meggie and friends – both real and imaginary …read more
Guillermo del Toro: "We’ll be pushing the Goblin Kingdom"
November 29, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
I was thinking the other day that the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy is probably my favorite trilogy ever. And that’s saying a lot, when you think about “Indiana Jones,” “Star Wars,” and all the rest. LOTR had everything in terms of storyline, casting, dialogue, music … everything!
So “The Hobbit” is one of my most anticipated movies in the coming years — well, actually TWO movies, since it’s being split into two parts, premiering December 2011 and December 2012. It’s got Guillermo del Toro writing and directing, and Peter Jackson writing and producing, so you’ve gotta think it’s going …read more
