New in theaters this weekend is a mix of movies – Action! Romance! Drama! Jackie Chan! Ok, there’s my little promo. Here are the actual movies.
‘Dear John’ (PG-13). I’m not totally sure I can bring myself to see this because it looks like a real tear-jerker, and Amanda Seyfried has said as much. It’s based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks, so that tells you something right there. The Toronto International Film Festival is taking place Sept. 10 – 19, 2009. Here are a few pictures from here, there and everywhere. Some of the films screening at the festival include Steven Soderbergh’s “The Informant!,” Joel and Ethan Coen’s “A Serious Man,” Jason Reitman’s “Up in the Air,” and Pedro Almodovar’s “Broken Embraces.”

Ghosts and zombies? No problem. But when it comes to female hormones, now that’s scary! Or so says Diablo Cody, director of “Jennifer’s Body,” the new flick starring Megan Fox.
Fox plays a possessed high schooler-turned serial killer who specializes in offing her male classmates. Amanda Seyfried plays her best friend who’s trying to put a stop to the madness.
In theaters Sept. 18, 2009, "Jennifer’s Body" is rated R for sexuality, bloody violence, language and brief drug use. Think you’ll catch it in theaters? 

When I saw Amanda Seyfried in “Mamma Mia,” I knew right away she’d be a big star (called that one!). She’s just 23, but the actress has been working steadily and has a slate of films coming up, including “Letters to Juliet.”
She stars as an American girl on vacation in Italy who finds an unanswered "letter to Juliet" — one of thousands left at the fictional lover’s Verona courtyard. I’m not so big on horror movies, but "Jennifer’s Body" looks just cheesy enough that I might have to check it out.
For one thing, it’s written by Diablo Cody ("Juno" and "The United States of Tara"). And it stars Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, Adam Brody, Amy Sedaris and J.K. Simmons. All great actors who would be fun in this type of movie.

“Jennifer’s Body” has a release date: Sept. 18, 2009. But Megan Fox’s topless scene has been cut, in case you were looking forward to that.
“Jennifer’s Body” follows a gorgeous cheerleader (Megan Fox), who’s possessed by a demon and starts feeding off the boys in a small Minnesota farming town. Her best friend must kill her, then escape from a correctional facility to go after the Satan-worshipping rock band responsible for the horrible transformation.
