Star of "Kenny" in for "Charlie & Boots"

by Jane Boursaw on August 19th, 2008

kenny3 I might have known it wouldn’t be long before Shane Jacobson came into the mainstream.

The beloved star of Kenny (check out my review - loved it) is on board with Paul Hogan for Instinct Entertainment’s “Charlie & Boots,” a comedy written for the duo by Shane Murphy and Stewart Faichney, who worked with Hogan on Strange Bedfellows.

I just hope Jacobson doesn’t go the way of Hogan, which is do a movie or two and then disappear from our collective consciousness. Hopefully, this film will be a nice comeback for Hogan, who struck gold with the Crocodile Dundee movies. He actually did a third installment called Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles, 13 years after the second movie. Not a big seller, apparently.

“Charlie & Boots” will be released through Paramount and its non-exclusive Australian partner, Transmission Films, says Variety.

The film follows a father and son who travel from Victoria to Cape York to fulfill their lifelong dream of fishing off Australia’s northern tip. It’ll have a wide theatrical release in Australia in the second-half of 2009.

By the way, Strange Bedfellows was the highest grossing Australian film in 2004, and also the subject of a failed copyright lawsuit against Universal’s I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.

    Hi There,

Sorry, have to use an alias due to confidentiality clause but be assured that this is for real.

This film will be sensational. Shane Jacobson is the quintessential ‘Natural Comedian’ and Paul Hogan is a ‘National Treasure’. What better combination could there be?.

How do I know C&B is a smash hit? - because I’m a lucky lucky extra and the past two days have been two of the best days of my life.

Incredible crew + great cast = hopefully worldwide phenomenon.

At least it does for this utterly green little would-be-if-I-could-be.

    Don’t miss this flick

I reckon it’s gunna be a great film!
They actually filmed a bit of it in my home town today, which I spent the whole day watching and talking to the crew. Great people!
    I also got sunburnt too…
I can’t wait till it comes out!
