‘Spider-Man’ Scoop from Cinematical.com
May 16, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
Cinematical.com posted a cool scoop this morning, noting that writer James Vanderbilt has turned in a working draft of Spider-Man 4 to the studio, but the arc encompasses two films, “making Spider-Man 5 shootable at the same time.”
So nothing is set in stone, but it looks like we might have Spidey 4 and 5 shooting simultaneously.
Earlier this year, Vanderbilt talked about coming into the franchise mid-stream, saying, “It’s sort of an odd process because you’re sitting down with the people who made the first three and going, “Well, let me tell you what to do.”
More after the jump…
Vanderbilt added, “I really loved the films…I was lucky enough that they were interested in me, and I’m a huge fan of those movies.”
According to IMDB.com, “Spider-Man 4″ is due in theaters in 2009. Vanderbilt also penned the script for 2007’s Zodiac (great movie!), and has several projects in development, including Bombshell, The Losers, and Against All Enemies.
I’m excited about Spidey 4 and 5 in the works, though, like Cinematical, I’m wondering if the major players, including Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, will be returning for both movies. Also, I don’t know that there’s a director attached, and Sam Raimi — who directed the first three — has a TON of projects coming up.
Any thoughts?
