Ryan Gosling to Play Kurt Cobain?

January 16, 2008 by Jeanne

Ryan Gosling If Kurt Cobain’s widow, Courtney Love, has her wish, Canadian actor, Ryan Gosling, will be portraying her late husband in the upcoming movie Heavier Than Heaven.  Love is the executive producer and has also, reportedly, asked Scarlett Johansson to portray her.

A source claims that Kirsten Dunst was originally considered for the role but Courtney really admires and would prefer Scarlett (I can understand that but Kirsten might have been more "visually appropriate" for the role, in my opinion).

"She wants the best actors to portray them–she will be on set all the time giving Scarlett and Ryan advice on what it was like being one part of the most notorious couples since Sid and Nancy. It will be explosive."

I’m not sure what I think about Courtney being involved on-set "all the time."  I know it’s about her life but I hope it doesn’t interfere with the creative process.  Oh well.  It’s all still speculation so I’ll have to wait for more news to materialize before I jump to conclusions.

Could be interesting, though.  I loved Kurt Cobain (still love Nirvana) so I hope that this movie is done as respectfully as possible.  I also wonder how Kurt and Courtney’s daughter, Frances Bean, feels about all of this.
