Russell Crowe to Play Comedian Bill Hicks?
August 19, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
I don’t even know who Bill Hicks is (feel free to tell me in the comments section!), but the idea of Russell Crowe playing a comedian…?
Hey, I guess if Heath Ledger can play The Joker, Russell Crowe can play a comedian, right? Truthfully, I’m sure he can play any role given to him, he’s such a talented actor.
Now that Ridley Scott’s Nottingham has been pushed back (due to leaf issues, scheduled to move forward in March 2009), Crowe may indeed fill in his time playing comedian Bill Hicks, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.
He says: “I have another project based on the life of comedian Bill Hicks, which is going from treatment to draft stage with Kiwi writer Mark Staufer.”
According to the story, Hicks is “a controversial and brilliant American comedian who battled drug and alcohol abuse before dying from cancer at 32.”

Russel Crowe couldn’t portray Bill Hicks’ anus.
Hollywood could never encapsulate bill hicks correctly. He spent his career spitting on Hollywood and corporate mechanisms, any movie that comes from them would be a pure illusion.
This is blasphemy to a Hicks fan.
