Russell Brand: the new Dudley Moore?
December 4, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
Is Russell Brand the new Dudley Moore? Well, maybe, if you consider that he’s eyeing a remake of Moore’s 1981 hit “Arthur.” I could see it, but Brand’s no Dudley Moore, that’s for sure.
The original movie followed a boozy playboy set to inherit a fortune if he marries a respectable heiress. Instead, he falls in love with a working-class girl and turns to his valet for help when his family makes him choose between money and love.
I just think of Russell Brand as kind of smarmy. He’s already gotten a reputation for sex, drugs and alcohol, and was recently suspended by the BBC for on-air radio pranks. And the BBC is usually pretty forgiving of that stuff!
