"Rocky Horror" Remake on the Way?
July 24, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
Ok, I just can’t see this one. The original is such a cult classic, I don’t think any remake would ever do justice to it.
But Internet rumors are flying that MTV is planning a remake of the 1975 musical, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Conceived by Richard O’Brien, the story follows a young couple who, unfortunately, stumble upon the residence of a cross-dressing scientist named Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry).
No word on a director or stars, but the rumor is they’ll use the original screenplay by Richard O’Brien and Jim Sharman, who directed the original.
I just don’t think they’ll be able to replicate the tacky charm of the original film, and I have a feeling that fans who attend all the midnight showings year after year will be up in arms.
