Pandas to Rule at Cannes
April 20, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu, Dustin Hoffman…just a few of the stars expected to jet into the Cannes Film Festival next month, promoting their animated comedy-adventure, Kung Fu Panda, from Dreamworks.
Also expected in the official lineup are a trio of documentaries headlined by Emir Kusturica’s Maradona, the long-gestating movie centering on infamous Argentinean soccer legend Diego Maradona. The diminutive soccer star is expected to grace the French resort, according to French media reports.
The other two docs include Marina Zenovich’s Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired, which snagged a prize at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, and James Toback’s Tyson, with former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson expected to attend.
Meanwhile, this year’s Foundation for AIDS Research dinner is expected to be helmed by pop diva Madonna, who continues to amaze me with her staying power year after year.
