Original Ghostbusters Murray, Aykroyd on board for remake – VIDEO
March 30, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Harold Ramis recently stopped by MTV News to chat about his new Jack Black comedy "The Year One" (in theaters June 19). MTV took the opportunity to ask Ramis about the upcoming “Ghostbusters” remake. He co-wrote the first two “Ghostbusters” movies and also starred in them as the nerdy Dr. Egon Spengler.
Well, guess what?! Ramis (now 64!) says all the original core players are onboard for the reboot, including Bill Murray (Dr. Peter Venkman) and Dan Aykroyd (Dr. Raymond Stantz), who co-wrote the original films. "We’re all going to be in it in different kinds of roles," Ramis said. "We’re going to be the sage mentors. There are going to be young Ghostbusters."
More after the jump, including a video…
With Judd Apatow signed on as a producer, expectations are high for the new movie. You have to wonder if Apatow favorites like Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen will be involved. That would be awesome.
But here’s what Rogen said when asked about it: “What? That’d have to be one great f—ing script for anyone to touch that.” They’ve got some pretty big shoes to fill, that’s for sure.

DUDES>>>>>> FREAKIN SWWEEEEEEEEET!
For this one to succeed it will of course need to be in 3D but also not be so family friendly this time around. The franchise is strong enough that it can afford to get a little dangerous this time… we need actual death by ghost and more major role involvement by a ghost or ghosts.
This is indeed sweet,Im actualy excited about this. This is how to make a remake, involve the original cast and fans. the only thing if its going to have their characters then your misclassifying remake its a sequel, not remake if bill murry and the rest are acting LOL. With jack black, paul rudd and even the guy who played stiffler in american pie who was in role models with rudd would make a great alternative as a smart ass bill murray. jack black, stiffler, seth rogan that would be a sweet ghostbusters ^_^. This is how to treat fans with respect and not treat a franchise like somethings wrong with it and disenfranchise the original or fans like the nightmare on elm street remake that didnt even bother to cast englund or offer him a role lol. This is one remake/sequel I have been waiting for along while, even better that the original writers are on board.
