Ninja Assassin: Preview & 8 Clips

“Ninja Assassin” has been getting a lot of buzz lately. It premiered at the Austin Fantastic Fest in September, and Vancouver International Film Festival in October. It opens wide in theaters on Nov. 25, 2009.
I’m thinking it must have some pretty good stunts, and it’s written by one of my favorite screenwriters, J. Michael Straczynski (“Babylon 5”), which makes it ripe for a TV series!
It also looks like the kind of movie that’s going to make me want to go home and do a couple of sit-ups – until the feeling quickly passes.
“Ninja Assassin” tells the story of a young ninja named Raizo (Rain), who’s one of the deadliest assassins in the world. Taken from the streets as a boy, he was transformed into a trained killer by a secret society known as the Ozunu Clan. Their existence is considered a myth.
But Raizo is haunted by the merciless execution of his friend by the Clan, so he vanishes and waits, preparing to exact his revenge.
In Berlin, Europol agent Mika Coretti (Naomie Harris) stumbles on a money trail linking several political murders to an underground network of untraceable assassins from the Far East. Despite the orders of her superior, Ryan Maslow (Ben Miles), Mika digs into classified files to learn the truth behind the murders.
Her investigation makes her a target, and the Ozunu Clan sends a team of killers, led by the lethal Takeshi (Rick Yune), to silence her. Raizo saves Mika from her attackers, and the two must trust each other in order to survive.
“Ninja Assassin” is rated R for strong bloody stylized violence throughout, and language. Watch the clips after the jump.
