"Nim’s Island" Preview & Trailer

April 2, 2008 by Jane Boursaw

image Nim’s Island hits theaters this Friday, and it’s got some serious star-power and girl-power. I love just about every Walden film I’ve ever seen, including Because of Winn-Dixie, The Chronicles of Narnia, Charlotte’s Web, Bridge to Terabithia, and How to Eat Fried Worms (really…it’s a good movie).

In Nim’s Island, Abigail Breslin plays a young girl named Nim Rusoe who lives on an island with her scientist father, Jack (Gerard Butler). When her dad goes missing, Nim begins corresponding with Alexandra Rover (Jodie Foster), the author of her favorite books about a dashing adventurer named Alex Rover (get the connection there?). The two girls must work together and overcome their fears and locate Jack.

imageThis movie was shot on location on the stunning beaches of Australia’s Gold Coast and the lush rainforests of Hinchinbrook Island.

Directed by the husband-and-wife team Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett (Little Manhattan), it’s rated PG for mild adventure action and brief language. Best for kids 8 and older.
