"New Moon" News: Vanessa Hudgens in for Leah?

Rumors are swirling that Vanessa Hudgens, cutie from the "High School Musical" movies might be close to signing as the character of Leah in "New Moon."
Wow, I really can’t see her in the role at all. What do you guys think about this? Maybe I need to stop thinking of her in terms of the HSM movies, since those are pretty much a done deal. I mean, she has to move on, right?
The "Twilight" sequel is in the works, with Chris Weitz in as director and filming scheduled to begin in March. Look for the vampire movie to be theaters on Nov. 20, 2009.

cmon guys i think she is nice…but we all now how hard it is for all those disney stars to prove that they can act….. disney makes them famous after that they just cant prove to people that they are good.. i dont think she could play leah but she can act…. theres no reason to hate her….

I don’t think she is/should. I think some other chick is going to, but really. Why? She’s going to be in sooooo many more movies where she will be the main character. If she is going to be in New Moon, it would suck all the attention away from Kirsten and Robert. Not fair. No. Thumbs down.
Please Chris for the movies sake do not put either of these girls Vanesse or Brenda as a character. These girls have played roles that only leave us with a child like feel about them. I do not think I or many others can get past the other roles that they have played to see them in a serious role like this. I honestly would prefer to see an uknown actress other than them. I think it will seriously ruin the entire feel of the movie for me. It will turn into a joke the moment I see either of their faces. I pray that you take the advice of the fans and not cast them for a part in these movies.

It’s a false rumor, now. “New Moon” has been completely cast, and Vanessa is not in it. In fact, no other actress is in the role. The Leah character has been dropped from the movie.

I personally have nothing against the Vanessa but she seems way to sweet and innocent for this role. Leah is, excuse my language, a badass. She’s one of the boys. I can’t see her playing this role. It just doesn’t fit. She’s also too cute. I saw another website for the top 10 contenders up for the role of Leah and just from looks alone, I liked Jessica Szohr or Alice Braga. They seem to “fit” the look. Otherwise I don’t know anything else about them.
And secondly, I would really like to see them cast someone who wasn’t so recognizable. Someone new and fresh, like the rest of the cast members in twilight. It’s refreshing to see new faces. And, I don’t want to be able to associate this person to another role. Unfortunately this is what happens to actors and actresses who play a certain role type and for a certain period of time, but it’s inevitable.
