Mel Gibson’s "Edge" Adds Cast
August 14, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
Danny Huston (pictured), Shawn Roberts and Bojana Novakovic have joined the Mel Gibson thriller Edge of Darkness.
Directed by Martin Campbell, Darkness centers on a veteran cop (Gibson) whose only grown-up child (Novakovic) is murdered on the steps of his home. The cop unearths his daughter’s secret life and discovers a world of corporate cover-ups and government collusion. Huston will play a shady businessman, and Roberts will play the daughter’s distraught boyfriend.
Robert De Niro is also in the film, playing a CIA cleaner. Excellent. He’s in a lot of films lately, but I guess he’s never really been off the canvas. At this point, you’ve gotta think he’s just doing it for the love of film. Doesn’t seem like he really needs to be working.
More after the jump…
Let’s see….where have we seen these folks (well, not De Niro, the others). Huston, who’s the son of John Huston and half-brother of Anjelica Huston, has been working steadily since the 1990s. He played Samuel Adams in the HBO miniseries John Adams earlier this year. He’s also had roles in 30 Days of Night, The Kingdom, and won a Satellite Award for The Constant Gardner. Catch him as William Stryker in the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Serbian born Novakovic can be seen in Sam Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell, as well as Will Smith’s Seven Pounds. Canadian Roberts just finished filming Fox Atomic’s I Love You, Beth Cooper for Chris Columbus and appeared in George A. Romero’s Diary of the Dead.
