Kidman in for "The Eighth Wonder"

September 16, 2008 by Jane Boursaw

australia 20th Century Fox is going globe-trotting with Nicole Kidman. The studio has picked up “The Eighth Wonder,” an action-adventure pitch from Simon Kinberg, with Kidman attached to star and produce.

I had to look back at her bio to see if she’s produced other movies. Not so much in the past — 2003’s In the Cut is the only one I’m seeing.

However, Kidman is producing a number of upcoming films, including Alone, Rabbit Hole, How to Marry a Millionaire, Monte Carlo, At the End of the Spectra, and an Untitled Dusty Springfield Project. This seems to be how it goes as actors get older — they start producing and directing. Will that be next for her?

More after the jump…

Plot details for “The Eighth Wonder” are sketchy, but the story centers on an archeological discovery that sets off a globe-spanning race. It’s being described as a character-driven, treasure-hunting thriller.

Look for Kidman next in the Baz Luhrmann extravaganza, Australia, which opens Nov. 26.
