Join the Campaign: Harvey Dent for District Attorney of Gotham City
March 16, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
My son and I were walking past a store in the mall yesterday, headed for Game Stop, and we spotted an “I Believe in Harvey Dent” poster in a store window.
It’s all part of Warner Bros. promotion for “Batman: The Dark Knight,” coming to theaters July 18, 2008. Check out Gecko’s preview and trailer here. After the untimely death of Heath Ledger, who plays The Joker in the movie, the studio moved the focus from the Joker to Aaron Eckhart’s character, Harvey Dent.
The goal is to raise support for Dent’s campaign to become District Attorney of Gotham City. An email sent out a few weeks ago noted: “Dent’s challenge to Gotham to show their desire for change has been met with a citywide explosion of activism, with thousands of supporters organizing rallies, meetings, petition drives and posting signs and placards in every neighborhood.”
To show your support, go to the campaign’s official Web site, where you can hear Dent’s message, download campaign materials, and submit videos and photos of you and your pals joining the campaign.
Kudos to Warner Bros. for their ability to roll with the punches and keep the movie’s marketing train steaming forward.
