Johnny Depp as The Riddler? – AUDIO

September 1, 2008 by Jane Boursaw

DN02-MTV-16 -JM.JPG Has Johnny Depp been cast as The Riddler in the next Batman movie? Not that he knows of, despite rumors to the contrary.

Depp recently surfaced on a radio interview in Florida — which is interesting in itself — and Comic Book Cynic was apparently the first to find the YouTube clip below.

Apparently, Depp reunited with his old band, The Kids, for a benefit concert this past Friday night. Prior to the event, he joined his bandmates via phone for an interview with Paul and Young Ron on Big 105.9 in Miami.

More after the jump…

Depp talks a about his upcoming movies, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus (Depp, along with Colin Farrell and Jude Law, stepped in to replace Heath Ledger mid-production) and Public Enemies, in which he plays John Dillinger.

The host asked about rumors that Depp would be playing The Riddler. “Oh, yeah, I heard about that,” he said. “Not that I know of.” But added, “It seems like it’d be a fun gig for a while.”

Ok, the script likely isn’t written yet, so I doubt they’d be throwing it at Depp at this point. Although I do think he’d be great as The Riddler. Here’s the audio of Depp’s interview. Did these guys score a major coup or what?
