Is this a good thing? Joe Johnston is on board to direct Marvel’s “The First Avenger: Captain America.”

He directed “The Wolf Man,” currently in post-production, as well as “Hidalgo” in 2004, “Jumanji” in 1995, “The Rocketeer” in 1991, and several other films.

Other than that, he worked in special effects, including designing the vehicles for “Star Wars” and storyboarding the convoy action sequence for “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”

Does Johnston have the chops to pull off the first Avengers movie? I’ve heard good things about “The Wolf Man,” so I’m holding out all good hope. I’m sure he’s feeling the heat!
