Heath Ledger Dead at 28

Actor Heath Ledger was found dead in his SoHo apartment this afternoon. The Academy Award nominee is said to have been surrounded by pills when his housekeeper discovered him. *update – the pills were near his body but not strewn all over the place as was previously reported.
A New York Police Department spokesman has confirmed the death.
The actor, whose last role will be that of the Joker in the upcoming Batman flick "The Dark Knight" leaves behind a two-year-old daughter (Matilda Rose) with former fiancée, Michelle Williams.
This is just terribly sad and devastating news. My heart really goes out to his friends and family. I’m a stranger and I’m so hurt, I cannot even imagine the pain they are feeling.

OMG Jeanne! What horrible news!!! Gosh. I really hate to hear that.
I can’t believe how shocked I am over this–I really like Ledger as an actor, and he seemed like a great person, too.
Incidentally (and fortunately for his fans and moviegoers), Ledger already completed filming his role as The Joker in The Dark Knight, so that final performance is a wrap. Now I’m looking forward to the movie more than ever.
Devastating. I still just cannot believe it either.
