Film Preview: P.S. I Love You

P.S. I Love You

I was considering seeing a movie this weekend but it had to be something that I just couldn’t wait to see.  A girlfriend mentioned "P.S. I Love You" and my heart sank.  It just sounds lame but I wanted to be fair.  I decided that, rather than find out that my negative suspicions are correct by splashing out some cash that would otherwise go to holiday shopping, I opted to look for reviews from other, reputable sources.

Here are the titles of the reviews I encountered:

  • E! Online: P.S. We didn’t love it.
  • EFilmCritic.com: P.S. I don’t
  • NY Daily News: P.S. Why should we care?
  • Arizona Daily Star: P.S. I don’t like you at all.
  • USA Today: P.S. There’s little to love
  • METROMIX.com: P.P.S. Don’t you hate bad romantic comedies?
  • San Francisco Chronicle: P.S. It stinks
  • Chicago Reader: B.S. I Love You

Awwwww!!!!  I hate being right.  Did anyone go to see it and actually enjoy it?

Yes, I liked it a lot. Seems like lots of folks that rated it at IMDB did also (especially the females).
37% of all users rated it 10 out of 10.

    Check out the ratings breakdowns:

The critics comments don’t influence me AT ALL these days.

I’m so happy to hear from someone who enjoyed it. thanks for the link because I was starting to wonder.

How much was Gerard Butler in the film? I love him but nothing compares to him in 300, for me :) He was HOTT!!!

  3. Beccas says:

Yes, he was very HOT in 300. He was hot in this too, but in a different way: warm, sensitive, funny, and very sexy like he is in real life.

He was actually in the movie quite a bit more than I expected (mostly through flashbacks and her fantasies of his being present).

I liked Hillary Swank too and am annoyed at how she is being put down by so many critics. She and Gerry both showed that they can do romantic comedy quite well. Jeffery Dean Morgan was the one who could have had more screen time, as he is yummy in this too.

This may not be the best romantic comedy ever, but any movie that can have you laughing and crying almost at the same time is definitely worth seeing (even if you aren’t a big Gerry fan), but if you are, don’t miss it.

I just saw this movie last night with a few of my girlfriends and LOVED IT!!! This morning I was astonished to see all the bad reviews. Everyone in the theater was laughing and crying and seemed to have genuinely enjoy it. I don’t remember the last time I have seen a move that has moved me so much. Probably “The Notebook”, only I cried harder and laughed more during this film. I was also surprised to see this film billed as a romantic comedy because it isn’t, and if this is what you are expecting you will be disappointed. This film is a drama with a lot of funny in it, Perhaps this is why it got bad reviews for it’s catagory. If you go to a movie expecting to see a “sleepless in Seattle” but get a “Terms of Endearment” you probably will not be satisfied. When I was invited to see this movie with friends I had no idea what it was about so had no preconceived notions of what to expect, therefore I was open and free to enjoy whatever it had to offer. Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler both gave outstanding performances as well as their supporting cast. I plan on taking my husband to see this next Monday, but I will go with a big box of kleenex this time!

I can’t believe the negative reviews for this movie! I thought this was one of the best romance movies in a long time! and it was funny and cute and I loved the whole thing! I never listen to reviews anyways, so for the people that do want to go see it and are worried now about the reviews, don’t listen to them! it’s definetly worth seeing!!!!!
