Film Preview: Definitely, Maybe

December 29, 2007 by Jeanne

"Definitely, Maybe" is scheduled to come out next Valentine’s Day (February 14, 2008) and it looks like I will "possibly, maybe" go to see it.  It’s got a solid cast (Ryan Reynolds, Isla Fisher, Derek Luke, Abigail Breslin, Elizabeth Banks and Rachel Weisz) and a really cute storyline.  Plus, Ryan Reynolds as a dad is totally adorable!  Here’s a plot summary from ComingSoon.net:

Ryan Reynolds stars as Will Hayes, a 30-something Manhattan dad in the midst of a divorce when his 10 year-old daughter, Maya (Abigail Breslin), starts to question him about his life before marriage. Maya wants to know absolutely everything about how her parents met and fell in love.

Will’s story begins in 1992, as a young, starry-eyed aspiring politician who moves to New York from Wisconsin in order to work on the Clinton campaign. For Maya, Will relives his past as an idealistic young man learning the ins and outs of big city politics, and recounts the history of his romantic relationships with three very different women.

The Val’s day release is smart, but nothing about the trailer particularly caught my eye. I really liked Abigail Breslin in Signs, thought she was good in Little Miss Sunshine, but she seems to be turning kind of irritatingly precocious. I’ll reserve judgment on this one.

  2. Jeanne says:

Abigail might become really annoying if they aren’t careful. I am starting to avoid movies starring Dakota Fanning. There’s got to be other kids out there looking for a break in the biz!

Love Isla Fisher, she just gets better, will take my sister to this, there are so few films that make you feel better and make you laugh and cry
