I'll tell you, I was NOT expecting to be standing 15 feet away from Mel that day. It was as though the planets were aligned just right! I left work late. When I got to the subway there were about 200 people there -- about 180 more than normal! So I knew something was wrong. Then I remembered I forgot to mail something. Went back to work, walked to the post office and then thought perhaps I'd go take some photos and walk through the common. Dope! My batteries were running out as I took a few photos of ducks and water. I continued on through the Common and saw some filming of a little girl playing with a ball. We all walked around that. Then I saw a much bigger crowd of people so I just had to join. What else did I have planned on a Friday evening? :-) Just as I walked up, over strolls Mel to the Craft food table and he starts munching on the good stuff! He says to the crowd, 'don't you all have something better to do?' and everyone laughed. Mel laughed and then said, 'I do! I need to EAT!' And he grabbed for the big chocolate cake! But he laughed and then ate some nuts and fruits. Mel laughed with the crowd and stayed there for about 5 minutes. My camera was nearly dead though...So my shots weren't great.
