"Doctor Parnassus" Back on Track
March 11, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
Filming on Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is back on track in Vancouver, after being shut down after the sudden death of actor Heath Ledger on Jan. 22.
Gilliam also confirmed rumors that Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law will help to complete the film. I’m sure it must be heart-wrenching but also fulfilling for these actors to help bring this film to theaters.
In a statement, the producers said that Heath’s work wouldn’t be modified or altered digitally. “Each of the parts played by Johnny, Colin and Jude is representative of the many aspects of the character that Heath was playing,” Gilliam said. “I am grateful to Johnny, Colin and Jude for coming on board, and to everyone else who has made it possible for us to finish the film.”
He added, “I am delighted that Heath’s brilliant performance can be shared with the world.” I’m sure this movie will be well-attended, given that it was the actor’s last before his shocking death.
