Disney Picks up "Family"

June 23, 2008 by Jane Boursaw

It seems like Disney has broadened its horizons in recent years, adding edgier films like National Treasure: Book of Secrets and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, into the mix.

Now it’s picked up the pitch, “Happy Little Family,” which sounds like it might fall into that edgy category, though it’s hard to say. The story centers on a family that’s turned into a popular set of dolls, and must then work together as they encounter dangers in their newfound state.

Writers Patrick Doody and Chris Valenziano are writer-producers who worked on the American Cinematheque tribute for Julia Roberts, the 13th annual Critics Choice Awards, and VH1’s “Big in ‘05″ and “Big in ‘06″ awards. They also worked on Sci Fi Channel’s horror film Bugs and also wrote the video game Silent Hill: Homecoming (thus, my thought that “Family” might be edgy).

By the way, check out Disney’s roster of upcoming films. It’s huge!
