Demi Signs for "Tears" and "Bunraku"

April 15, 2008 by Jane Boursaw

image Demi Moore is getting back into the movies again. After a decade of sporadic roles here and there, she’s signed to star in two indie films: a poignant family drama and a martial arts flick.

I’m happy to see her back in action, though understand her desire to be out of the limelight for a few years. I still remember her as Jackie Templeton on General Hospital.

More after the jump…

In “Happy Tears,” she’ll star as Parker Posey’s sister. Posey’s character returns home to Wisconsin to care for their ailing father, who’s suffering from dementia. Meanwhile, Demi’s character has been shouldering the burden as chief caretaker. Directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein (Teeth), the film starts shooting this month in Philadelphia.

In Bunraku, a film inspired by martial arts and spaghetti westerns, Demi will star as a warlord’s concubine, along with Woody Harrelson and Josh Hartnett, who’ll play a drifter out for revenge. Written and directed by Guy Moshe, filming is scheduled to take place in Europe, with a release date in 2009.
