Chris Pine to play Jack Ryan

October 14, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Chris Pine We’ll have to start calling Chris Pine the re-boot kid. He took over the seminole role of Capt. Kirk in this year’s “Star Trek,” and now he’s stepping into the role of Jack Ryan, the Tom Clancy character made famous by Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin, and Ben Affleck.

The project is still taking shape, so no word on what and when it’ll happen. There’s also a chance that Pine will make another “Star Trek” film before the Jack Ryan film.

At any rate, he’s got a job with Paramount for several years. Nice spot to be in.

Baldwin was the first to play Ryan in 1990’s “The Hunt for Red October,” while Ford played him in 1992’s “Patriot Games” and 1994’s “Clear and Present Danger.” Affleck took over the role in 2002’s “The Sum of All Fears.”
