"Tropic Thunder" Protested for "Retard": Am I Insensitive?

I’m as aware as the next guy about all of the issues facing people. But when I heard that Special Olympics chairman Timothy Shriver and a group of folks were marching outside the Westwood premiere of Tropic Thunder on Monday night, I sort of thought, get over yourselves. It’s a movie. Movies make fun […]

New in Theaters: July 2, 2008

New movies usually hit theaters on Friday, but this week, they’re in theaters today — I guess to take advantage of the July 4th holiday weekend. Here’s what’s new this week. Look for my reviews on both of these tomorrow:
Hancock. Will Smith plays an edgy superhero with issues. Lots of issues. Rated PG-13. […]

"Tinker Bell" Speaks!

The long-awaited direct-to-DVD Tinker Bell finally has a release date: Oct. 28, 2008.
The Peter Pan spin-off — a CG-animated film — marks the first time the little fairy will speak. She IS a fairy, isn’t she? I dunno, she might be some sort of related creature, though no less sweet (or spirited).
Tinker […]
