‘Breaking Dawn’ to be Split Into Two Films?
February 13, 2010 by Jane Boursaw
Hmmm, here’s some interesting news about ‘Breaking Dawn.’ Deadline Hollywood is reporting that it might be split into two movies.
Summit Entertainment isn’t talking at this point, saying only, “No decision has been made and as we have said all along, we are continuing to work with Stephenie Meyer to bring ‘Breaking Dawn’ to the big screen.”
Yeah, that’s not really saying anything, is it? The cynical part of me thinks that two films would make way more money than one, so that would be a reason for the powers that be to do it that way.

Penelope Cruz to Join Johnny Depp in ‘Pirates 4’?
February 11, 2010 by Jane Boursaw
I guess I can see Penelope Cruz in a ‘Pirates’ movie, especially if she plays a female pirate.
She’s in negotiations to join Johnny Depp and sail the seven seas in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,’ the fourth installment of the franchise being directed by Rob Marshall. It’s scheduled for a May 20, 2011 release date.
Depp, of course, will be back as Captain Jack Sparrow, and while plot details are buried deeper than Blackbeard’s treasure, we do know that the story revolves around the Fountain of Youth.
All we know about Cruz’s character – should the …read more
DVD Review: ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’
February 8, 2010 by Jane Boursaw
Just getting caught up on a few DVDs that have been stacked in my office waiting for a review. ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ was released in several versions last year: Two-Disc Blu-ray with Digital Copy, Single Disc DVD, and Two-Disc Special Edition DVD with Digital Copy. The people who put these out must go nuts trying to keep up with all the new technologies. Glad I’m not them.
Let’s talk about the Two-Disc Special Edition DVD. This has a bunch of bonus features:
Trailers: Night At The Museum 2, The Marine 2, Family Guy Presents: Something Something Something Dark Side, …read more
DVD Review: ‘Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs’ – Cute with great animation
February 7, 2010 by Jane Boursaw
They’ve really mined everything they can out of these "Ice Age" movies, haven’t they? That’s not to say they’re not cute and fun and all that stuff. Just that maybe they’ve come to the end of the line on these particular characters and stories. Then again, they’ve added a few new characters in this movie, and let’s face it, they’re just at the dawn of the dinosaurs, which means this franchise could go on into infinity.
The first movie, 2002’s "Ice Age," was definitely the best. The second, 2006’s "Ice Age: The Meltdown," was cute, and this one is …read more
Is Logan Lerman the next ‘Spider-Man’?
February 4, 2010 by Jane Boursaw
Could Logan Lerman, the 18-year-old star of the upcoming ‘Percy Jackson & the Olympians’ be the next Spider-Man? Not so fast! Lerman might have gotten a teensy bit ahead of himself in saying that he’s in talks to take over the reins from Tobey McGuire.
According to Columbia Pictures, “No offers have been made, nor have any business discussions been made with Lerman.”
Oops. At this point, the studio is looking at all actors who could fit the bill of a high school teen and is compiling a list. Lerman is on that list, but he’s not THE one yet. Then …read more
Marc Webb to direct ‘Spider-Man’ 4
January 19, 2010 by Jane Boursaw
Here’s an interesting turn of events. Marc Webb, who directed the Golden Globe-nominated Best Picture “(500) Days of Summer,” is set to direct the next chapter in the “Spider-Man” franchise. I’ve heard that this next installment will be more of a reboot than a sequel to the previous three films.
So how will Webb, known mainly for directing “Summer,” as well as several music videos (Green Day and 3 Doors Down, among them), fare after Sam Raimi’s work on the previous three “Spider-Man” movies? Webb has an interesting take on it.
“This is a dream come true and I couldn’t …read more
‘The Wolfman’ director talks ‘Captain America,’ Jurassic 4′
January 14, 2010 by Jane Boursaw
“The Wolfman” will be menacing theater-goers on February 12, 2010, but director Joe Johnson is already talking about his next film, “The First Avenger: Captain America.”
He says it’s not going to be the Captain America that you expect. It’s influenced by the comic book, but apparently goes off in a very different direction.
“It’s basically the story of how Steve Rogers becomes Captain America,” said Johnston. “The great thing about Captain America is he’s a superhero without any super powers. Which is why this story, among the hundreds of superhero stories, appealed to me the most. He can’t fly, he can’t …read more
Zachary Levi looks nothing like his ‘Chuck’ character
January 5, 2010 by Jane Boursaw
Zachary Levi stopped by the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City for an appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” He was there to promote the new season of “Chuck,” premiering Sunday, Jan. 10, with a two-hour episode beginning at 9/8c.
But for movie lovers, especially Chipmunk movie lovers, he’s also playing Dave’s slacker cousin Toby in “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.” I have to say, though, Zachary Levi looks nothing like either of those characters. He’s handsome, not nerdy!

Sam Mendes to helm next James Bond film
January 5, 2010 by Jane Boursaw
Straight from the home of James Bond comes the news that British director Sam Mendes will helm the 23rd Bond film, with Daniel Craig once again in the starring role.
That’s great news, since the Oscar winner has either directed and/or produced such films as “Revolutionary Road,” “The Kite Runner,” and “American Beauty.” It’s a given that any James Bond film will include plenty of action, but with Mendes on board, it will most likely be a thoughtful film, too.
Mendes, of course, is married to actress Kate Winslet (hmmm, could she score a starring role in the movie? …read more
‘Star Trek 2’ to explore new worlds in 2010?
January 3, 2010 by Jane Boursaw
Not surprisingly, given the love that fans showed “Star Trek” last year (not to mention $257 million at the box office), it looks like a sequel to the reboot is already in a go mode. Let’s get real; it was probably in a go mode before the movie even hit theaters.
Zoe Saldana, who played communications diva Uhura, recently told MTV.com that J.J. Abrams is in the process of fleshing out a storyline for the sequel.
"I spoke to J.J. and Bryan Burk, his producing partner at Bad Robot," Saldana said, “and they are still in the middle of …read more
