Alec Baldwin, Bernie Mac Head to "Madagascar"
June 5, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
Alec Baldwin and Bernie Mac have pounced onto the cast of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The actors will play rival lions in the animated flick, the sequel to the wildly popular 2005 movie, Madagascar, about a group of escaped NYC Zoo animals.
Mac will voice the part of Zuba, father of Alex the Lion (Ben Stiller) and head of the pride. Baldwin will voice their adversary Makunga. Comedian Sherri Shepherd and Black Eyed Peas rocker Will.I.Am round out the cast.
In addition to Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Sacha Baron Cohen are returning for the sequel, as well. In the new story, the animals find themselves marooned in Madagascar. The penguins have ‘repaired’ an old crashed plane. Once aloft, they stay airborne long enough to make it to Africa, where the members of the zoo-raised crew encounter species of their own kind for the first time.
This is one of those rare — make that REALLY rare! — movies that appeals to both kids AND adults, making it perfect family fare. It’s due in theaters Nov. 7, 2008.
